Mercury is a poisonous metal. There are three different forms of mercury that people can be exposed to. Metallic mercury is a silvery-grey liquid metal that releases vapors into the air at room temperature. It is also called "quick silver." Mercury can also be combined with other chemicals to form methyl mercury, which is the type of mercury found in fish. Mercury salts are another form of mercury that is sometimes found in imported health remedies and cosmetic products.
