70 Games spanning 27 years. It's interesting to see how far water effects have progressed in games, from a simple blue shade, to a few extra animated pixels, to complete shimmering beauty. I spent about a week trauling through hours of game videos. Some didn't make it simply because the video quality was too poor. I've used so many sources here it's impossible to give credit where it's due so I'll just give a big thank you to GameTrailers and it's users who supplied me with most of the footage. The games are arranged chronologically, not by technicality. It's not 100% accurate, but it's based mainly on year released. Wow this kid can really play!

The best graphics ever. Of course, this is just my opinion and you will likely disagree with some choices. Sit back, relax, and enjoy some amazing looking games. :) edit: oh and I would like to clear something up. I realize Galaxy is not as technically powerful as the other games on the list, or some off it. Mario Galaxy I felt looked amazing, whether its on Wii or not. They really knew how to use the Wii's power fully and how to use an amazing art style. I am not claiming Mario Galaxy is technically superior to games like Mass Effect though. I personally think it looks better, but I know Mass Effect is technically better. Part of the reason I loved Galaxy's graphics so much was because so few games have a similar art style and look GREAT. I love the art style in the game more than almost any other. That is why I put it at #8. The rest of the games though, I was going more by technical aspects. EDIT: oh yeah, and games which just missed the list! It works using super top emission technology combined with microcavity structure and color filters. In laymen's terms, this means that it can achieve picture clarity which can be viewed from many angles maintaining high resolution. The product uses organic light emitting diodes which have seen an increase in popularity from manufacturers. They draw less power than their liquid screen counterparts and can also be more easily manufactured. Organic light emitting diodes or OLEDs are printed onto objects like the inside of display screens and the future could be used for roll up displays and even clothes which can display images. But for now, Sony is looking to release the product at the end of 2007 and made it with mobile devices as well as home display units in mind.
