Natural features

- Sweden's largest waterfall: Njupeskär 96 metres free fall
The return walk is
quite easy, only 4km to and from the main parking area. It is also possible to take a longer and slightly more challenging walk and to admire the fall from above on the plateau.
- Göljån: raindisaster site of August 1997
In 1997 an enormous storm ravaged the area. The effects of this disastrous downpour are still visible. The returning vegetation and animal life can be observed from close. At this place you can see the effects of natural forces.
- Rösjöarna National Park Camp: lakes up on the plateau (cottages and boats to rent)

Cultural sights

- Chalets from the old living on the mountain
- Altarringen: is  reputed to be to be an  ancient religious site high on the mountain. It is the highest such altar in Sweden and ceremonies are still held on a regular basis. Every year in July worship takes place, which is arranged together with the Norwegian people. For many local people this place has a special meaning.
- small villages around Fulufjället are interesting to visit: Mörkret, Tjärnvallen, Gördalen, Ljördalen (Norway), Stöa (Norway), Gräsheden, Grundforsen, Sörsjön.

Things to do

Summer outdoor activities
Walking/hiking: There are about 150 km of marked hiking trails in the park. One long trail is called “Kungsleden” and goes from the south to the north and passes mostly through the quiet zone of the park.

Canoeing/kayaking: The lakes and rivers offer unique scenery for an impressive tour.

Fly-fishing/night fishing: Fishing is a very popular activity in this area. Qualified guides can teach you all about the techniques and know exactly the right spot for a good catch!

Survival: Fulufjället is the perfect setting for survival activities. Professional guides and good quality equipment assure a superb experience in the wilderness of Europe. You can learn how to survive in wilderness areas, experience extreme situations and learn how to react in such cases.

Horse riding: Icelandic horses are used here as they are ideal for this kind of terrain and enjoy being ridden. Depending on the amount of snow horse riding can also be pracised in winter periods.

Winter outdoor activities:
Dog and horse sledging:
A number of companies organise dog-sledging tours.  It’s a very special experience enjoying the exhilaration of the winter landscape being drawn by sledge. This is a must-do activity when you are in Sweden during the winter time. One night can be spent out in the Park where you hear nothing but silence and maybe enjoy the spectacle of the Northern Lights (Auroa Borealis). A real PAN Parks wilderness experience!

Cross country skiing, downhill skiing: The slightly hilly area is perfect for cross country skiing. With a local guide you  can come to know  the most beautiful places. Downhill skiing is possible close to Sörsjön (Näsfjället), Idre, Sälen and Trysil (Norway).

Ice fishing: With the new technologies ice fishing has become a really different experience. Learn it the traditional way!

Ice climbing: The frozen waterfall offers an exciting setting for ice climbing. This activity is only recommended to professional mouintaineers. It requires, experience and of course the right equipment.

Guided nature tours/excursions
Safaris: Follow the trail of bears or elk. We can’t promise that you will be able to see the animals but you can see where they have been and get a real sense of their lives and habitat. Fascinating for both children and adults.

Birdwatching: It has been said that, among all of Dalarnas mountains, Fulufjället has the most abundant birdlife. At first glance, that may seem like an exaggeration; but the area offers many surprises. In summer, large populations of whimbrels and cuckoos make a powerful impression on visitors. So does the bluethroat - the nightingale of the mountains. In winter, the species that attract most attention are the crossbills, ptarmigans, woodpeckers and owls.

Fishing: Courses are available for fly-fishing or night-fishing.

Cultural activities
Old summer farm visit:
Excursions can be made to an old summer farm outside the park boundaries. Here, tradition comes back to life. The farm, which is not in use anymore, is a historical site that reveals Swedish traditional country life. Because of the dry and cold climate the old farm is still in its original state.

Museum: The Lomkallan Skogsmuseum is specialised in forestry and history of the area. The visitor centre, Naturuum, has an interesting exhibition on nature.

Villages: Fulufjället is surrounded by small and interesting villages providing a unique insight into rural life in this part of Sweden  these incluse Mörkret, Tjärnvallen, Gördalen, Ljördalen (Norway), Stöa (Norway), Gräsheden, Grundforsen, Sörsjön.
