Mwai Kibaki has been re-elected as president of Kenya, according to full results released by the electoral commission on public television.

The televised results gave Mr Kibaki 4,584,721 votes, ahead of opposition challenger Raila Odinga with 4,352,993.

Mr Odinga, who moments earlier walked out of a news conference which had been due to announce the final results, has accused Mr Kibaki of stealing the victory through systematic fraud in the tallying process.

On Saturday, angry supporters of Mr Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) went on a rampage for several hours, burning tyres and looting shops.
