Brawl: Co-op Event Matches, Target Smash

by Shawn White (2007-12-17)

Smash Bros. Dojo!! unveiled new details about the co-operative component in Brawl today, particularly concerning Event matches.

Co-op events will be separate from single-player events, featuring different challenges for two players to face together. Director Masahiro Sakurai noted that there will be fewer total two-player events. He did not give an indication of online co-op play for Event matches.

Examples of co-op events include:

"Two Trouble Kings", a battle against both Bowser and King Dedede;

"Master the Pokemon Tag Battle", a tag-team fight with Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard;

"Fastest, Shortest, Sudden Death", an effort to defeat the most enemies in ten seconds while carrying high damage;

and "All Mine", a coin battle in which the player(s) with the most money at the end wins.

Target Smash will also accommodate co-op play, Sakurai confirmed.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is planned for a January 24, 2008 release in Japan and a February 10, 2008 release in the Americas. PAL territories are expected to receive the game sometime after Q2 2008.

The Wiire can't ensure your buddies will be around come Brawl time, but you can expect the latest news.
