History

The Wiire began as an idea on May 17, 2005, and continues expanding the vision to the gaming site it is today. I spent much of my time discussing the Wii (at that time code-named Revolution) on various online communities, but my searches for a dedicated Wii Web site turned up dry. I brought up the idea of starting my own to the message board gaming communities and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

Feeding off this enthusiasm, I recruited some of my old colleagues and brought in talented staff from all over the world with experience in their fields. From here, we began development of the original site. After more than a month of hard work, The Wiire, formerly known as Revolution Report, opened to the public on July 1st, 2005. We received tremendously positive feedback from our readers on our quality Wii coverage and our weekly podcasts—two staples of the site we’ve continued to delivery for over two years now.

We’ve been in attendance and provided coverage at many games industry conventions, including Leipzig Games Convention 2005, Tokyo Game Show 2005, D.I.C.E 2006, GDC 2006, E3 2006 (extensive coverage), PAX 2006, GDC 2007, PAX 2007. As the site continually expands, members of The Wiire’s staff will attend most, if not all future industry events in order to provide the most up-to-date news as well as in-depth interviews and features.

Since the launch of the console in November 2006, we have been providing our own unique 3 stage reviews of Wii titles. More information on our review structure can be found in our Review Guide and a current list of all reviewed games can be found on our Games List page.

Our goal is to provide uncompromised views without the influence of outside involvement, providing gamers with unbiased, ethical practices you can always rely on. I hope you all continue to enjoy The Wiire, and on behalf of the whole team, I thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Ian Mikutel
CEO, The Wiire
