Majesco to Take Wii on African Safari

by Shawn White (2007-12-13)

Publisher Majesco Entertainment announced the development of Wild Earth: African Safari for Wii today. The simulation title will be based on a PC game of the same name from developer Super X Studios.

The main focus of African Safari will involve taking pictures of wildlife and their habitat. According to Majesco, players will "experience accurately presented flora and terrain from the Serengeti National Park in Africa, at different times of day and in varied weather" as they capture images of the 30 animals represented in the game. Collected pictures can be saved and strung together in an animated slideshow.

An Impact Meter will track the player's amount of disturbance on the environment; the more disturbance caused, the more the Wii Remote will rumble and make steady pictures harder to take. Complete depletion of the Impact Meter will result in a failed mission.

African Safari will feature 11 missions with primary and secondary objectives. The Wii version will sport co-operative multiplayer, so that up to four people can explore together. Also exclusive to the Wii version is a Safari Mini-Game mode, which will offer 11 mini-games played from the perspective of the animals.

Wild Earth: African Safari is planned for a Summer 2008 release.
