Atlus to Devastate Wii with Baroque

by Shawn White (2007-12-12)

Publisher Atlus U.S.A. announced the development of Baroque for Wii today. The game is a dungeon-crawling action-RPG.

Baroque employs a dark and nightmarish style to tell of the story of unnamed protagonist who awakens one day with an unexplainable guilt and the world in ruins. Players will lead him to a mysterious tower in search of redemption, where they will also battle monsters, find items and uncover the secrets of the devastated landscape.

More Baroque media can be found here.

According to Atlus, "The player [will have] full control over how they shape their character and how they play the game." An assortment of weapons and items can be equipped for battle, while stat-boosting parasites can be used and combined to increase the chances for survival.

Suffering death will not spell immediate game over, however; more plot secrets will be unlocked each time the main character dies.

The first trailer for Baroque can be found here. Readers can expect the game to be released in North America during February 2008.

The Wiire will have more on Atlus' Wii projects as news comes to light.
