Kringus Risen - Part 2 - The Risening

HUGE PvP store update

December 3rd, 2007

This is a big post guys.

First, Scratch Fury shirts arrived and were printed wrong. So wrong that I couldn’t, in good conscious ship them out. The manufacturer is doing a rush reprint and assures me we will have them to ship this week. Angela and I will do everything we can to ensure you get them in time for Christmas. Once they come in, we won’t stop until all orders are shipped. PvP Christmas Packs are still shipping this week and should easily make it to you in time for Christmas.

Second, Kris and I have decided to split halfpixelstuff.com into two stores: One for Starslip and one for PvP. The reason for this is that having a joint store, and two different production schedules is making it impossible to get orders out to you in a timely manner. And with the addition of Brad and Dave, we would rather reserve halfpixelstuff.com as a hub that links to all of our stores. All orders made to the halfpixelstuff.com store are STILL GOING OUT. For now, if you’re looking for Kris’ stuff ONLY, head to halfpixelstuff.com

If you want to buy PvP Stuff, you need to point your browser to PvPstuff.com. PvPstuff.com is the new home of the PvP store and we have some brand new items in there today as well as the return of some old classic designs that are in huge demand.

First, we have a brand new Panda Attack shirt. This is a brutal design and not for the light hearted. I decided that since our last Panda Attack shirt was logo-based, I would make the new one pure FAN SERVICE. It’s got a front and back design and is available in both men’s and ladies sizes. Check it out below:

More good news: classic shirts “Joss Whedon is my Master now” and “Han Shot First” are back on sale. And I am happy to announce the return of our original Han design BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT (and that’s true, you really did).

All of these new shirts won’t ship until January 2008. the shirt place can’t get these printed before then. So these are pre-order items and are not available in time for Christmas.

One last item: I found a box of old PvP books when cleaning out the garage. Not just any book, the first PvP trade we published through Dork Storm Press. The PvP Striptease contained strips from 1999, 2000 and 2001. It was never reprinted and will never be reprinted in a stand alone book again. I have 40 of these left and have sketched inside all of them. I have them up on the store now, get them while they last.

As always, if you have ANY issue with your order, please email us at pvpstuff@yahoo.com

PvP The Series: The Perfect Christmas Gift

December 3rd, 2007

Episode 11 of PvP: The Animated Series is live. This is part 2 of our three part adaptation of the 2002 PvP Christmas Special. Hands down, this is our best episode of the season. The animators have delivered beyond expectations. I’ve watched it 3 times and I get prouder with every viewing.

This episode also has some guest voice-acting by my lovely wife. She voiced 2 different characters. This episode is also my first voice appearance as I put in a couple voices. But the greatest cameo in this episode is by our own Kris Straub who debuts as “The Mall Cop.”

PvP: The Series makes a great Christmas gift for the PvP fan in your family. For less than 30 bucks, you can deliver 12 episodes of PvP goodness. Click Click here and choose GIFT SUBSCRIPTION. You can email the subscription right to a friend’s inbox.

Scott’s Mom

December 1st, 2007

I would like to start sharing more about my mother with you, I’m just not sure how to do it. The sting of her loss was enough to cause me to let the stronger details fade into a safer palette. What was once vibrant hues have, over time, faded to warmer neutral tones. It’s so much easier sharing my Dad with you because he’s here now and I benefit from the constant reminder of everything that makes him Papa. Plus, he’s pretty entertaining. Even when he’s not trying to be.

But if you can believe this, I think that by comparison, my mother would be more entertaining. And together, they would be unstoppable. You would need three comic strips and five sitcoms to contain it all.

I recoil at the thought of a long sloppy litany of every detail I can manage to pull from the fuzz of my mind about her. I think I would rather just find subtle methods of recognition. But today I felt a strong urge to make her feel a tad more present in my life. And maybe if I offer a detail or two about her and you guys take that with you, we ensure those morsels will pass on through the collective tapestry of our existence further than I could take them myself.

So today I offer you this of my mother: She was, both in youth and experience, able to maintain a constant sense of happiness and silliness. She also reveled in her ability to annoy the crap out of those she loved.

Both are traits I am honored to have inherited.

Webcomics Confidential

November 30th, 2007

I’m incredibly excited about the new direction Halfpixel.com is taking these days. More and more, Halfpixel is about losing yourself in the excitement of making comics and channeling that excitement into productive creativity. It feels good to have abandoned the ways of drama. It feels good to have that stuff behind me.

The How to Make Webcomics book, and the sister podcast Webcomics Weekly are projects to be proud of. I’m excited for you to see the new book and ecstatic at the response we’re getting to the podcast. In the spirit of continuing all of these good feelings, I’ve created a new (hopefully) weekly podcast called Webcomics Confidential.

Webcomics Confidential is the online comics version of Inside the Actors Studio. It’s a one on one interview with myself and a mover and shaker from the world of webcomics. Our first guest on the show is Tyler Martin. We talk a little about his cartooning past, his all ages work with Lunchbox funnies and Wally and Osborne and his obsession with making live easier for all of us with his Comicpress theme for Wordpress.

You can check out the episode below. I’ve posted links to both the direct download and subscription options. I’ve also added it to our podcast page and it should be updated with the new feed in the days to come.

Family Gaming

November 29th, 2007

After months of exclusive Xbox 360 gaming, we hooked the Nintendo Wii up to the new TV in the bedroom to test out Super Mario Galaxy. The wife in bed beside me, we started up the game and sat through what has become a tradition for me with new Mario games: wishing I could fast forward through cut-scenes and speed through dialog.

I get through the first series of challenges and save my first galaxy when the wife decides:

I’ll turn off this extra controller to save its batteries.

And she shut of the system. Before my game saved. I guess I’ll get to relive the magic AGAIN!

wheee.
