One of the highlights of a coupé and convertible range, refreshed for 2008, is the new 635d, featuring the world's most powerful production six-cylinder diesel. This sequential twin-turbocharged engine develops 268bhp and 428lb ft of torque from only 1,750rpm, providing 0-62mph in 6.3 sec (convertible 6.6). Both are limited to 155mph and manage about 40mpg (EU Combined). The straight-six 3.0 petrol and 4.8 V8 petrol engines have been improved, with 272 and 367bhp respectively. A restyle includes a larger grille and new headlights.

We like: Amazing ride and handling, interior, huge boot, appearance.

We don't like: The iDrive control, over-thick steering wheel.
