Gore rules out presidential bid
Former US vice-president Al Gore today ruled out a late entry
into the 2008 presidential race, despite increased speculation of
such a bid after he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last
week.
"I don't have plans to be a candidate again, so I don't really see
it in that context at all,'' Mr Gore told Norwegian broadcaster NRK
when asked if the prize had fuelled any White House ambitions.
The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize prize was awarded to Gore for his
efforts to raise public awareness about the dangers of climate
change.
He shared the award with the the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) - a UN body of about 3000 experts which has
highlighted the human role in rising global temperatures.
