I remember when the 2nd Iraq war began. It was in the evening(Pacific time) when the first strikes were launched against Baghdad. In the coming days my friends and I used to joke about going home to ‘Watch the War’ which in a way entails the whole experience of War in the modern era where images are beamed by satellite so the public can view the war in real time. But regardless of the desertscapes filled with American vehicles rushing around the Iraqi flank to strike deep towards Baghdad we are still left with a total fog as to what actually happened. Where were the major battles? Was it in Falujah? How many soldier were killed by Iraqi gunfire? What happened to the famed Republican Guard divisions we heard so much about? Did they melt? So here I present the books written about the 2nd Iraq War and how the books fit into the matrix of understanding.

The 101st airborne, second of Americas two elite airborne divisions was at the forefront of the fight.
The March Up: Taking Baghdad with the 1st Marine Division

The First Marine Division was at the heart of the offensive. The famed Marines who had done so well at blunting the Khafji offensive in the first gulf war returned for a second bout.
