How can I access and download more information about domain.com.au products and site features?

How do I advertise my property on Domain.com.au?
Properties on Domain.com.au are sourced from various places:

  • Real Estate Agents who have chosen to list their properties with Domain.com.au can list properties for sale and rent directly onto the Website. These properties may be enhanced with photos, interactive (surround) pictures, and floor plans. Also included in these ads are detailed descriptions, Agent details and contact information, and local area information.
  • Listings may also be derived from the many Fairfax print products, including The Age in Melbourne and the Sydney Morning Herald. Classified (lineage) advertisers may opt to have their ad loaded to the Domain.com.au Website. These advertisements appear on Domain.com.au early in the morning on the day of their publication in the newspaper, and will remain on the Website for seven days.
  • Users can place ads directly onto domain.com.au. To place your advertisement click here.

Can I directly advertise my property For Sale, Rent or Share privately on Domain.com.au, without using the services of a Real Estate Agent?

Will the classified ad I place in a Fairfax newspaper appear on Domain.com.au?
Classified advertisers from many Fairfax newspaper publications may opt to have their ad loaded to the domain.com.au Website. Some regional Fairfax publications, however, do not currently supply their listings for inclusion on Domain.com.au. Eligible ads are loaded to the Website early in the morning on the day of their publication in the newspaper, and will remain on the Website for seven days.


How do I become a member so I can use Home Alert and My Shortlist?
Click on 'Home Alert' - located at the top right of the Domain.com.au screen at all times – from here simply click on 'Join Now' and fill out the appropriate fields.

I am a member of another Fairfax Digital Website, can I use my username and password from this Website to access Domain.com.au's Member Services?
Member services are combined across all Fairfax Digital Websites. What this means is that if you have already joined at another Fairfax Digital Website, your username and password will work for Domain.com.au's member services.


How do I use Home Alert and My Shortlist?
Both of these features can be accessed from the top right of the domain.com.au screen, in the member services area. These features are available free to members of the Fairfax Digital. There is a link to a membership registration page from each of the initial information pages, and membership is also free.

  • My Shortlist - Property Shortlist - You can use this feature to store current properties listed on domain.com.au. From the Search Results list, or from the individual property's details page, all you need do is simply click on 'Add to shortlist'. You will then receive confirmation that the property has been added to your shortlist. To view your list at any time simply click on the link in the top right of the screen. Please Note: When a property is no longer available it is removed from your shortlist. Newspaper sourced properties become unavailable 7 days after publication and Internet only (Agent submitted) properties become unavailable 30 days after publication or 4 days after the auction date (or when an Agent actively removes it from the Website).

  • Home Alert - Home Alert sends you email notification of newly posted property ads that match your specifications. Simply select 'Home Alert' from the top right of the domain.com.au screen and click the link to create a new Home Alert, ”. You can also modify, or delete your Home Alert profiles'profiles from this page. Home Alert delivers to you all of the properties currently on the Website (matching your profile) in the initial email. Subsequent emails will only deliver new properties (matching your profile) added to the Website since your previous Home Alert email.

I have found my property, how do I cancel my Domain.com.au Home Alert emails?
To cancel your Home Alert emails, simply delete your Home Alert Profile/s. To do this, click on "Home Alert" at the top right of the domain.com.au screen; log in using the username & password that you used to set up the Home Alert, and then click on the delete button that applies to the Home Alert you wish to cancel.

To do this from the Home Page, click on "Home Alert" under "Member Services" in the left-hand navigation, or click on "Member Services" in the right of the top frame.

In the "Home Alert" section, select the State and whether Buyer, Renter or Sharer, and click "Go". Enter your Username and Password. If you have more than one Username, you will need to use the one with which you set up your Home Alert. You will then be in your personal Home Alert page. At the bottom of each of your Profiles, you will see buttons to "Modify", "Delete" or "Extend" (the expiry date) of that Profile. Delete each Profile in turn to cancel your Home Alert service.


Why does my Home Alert advise me that there are no properties matching my profile, when I can find some by doing the same search on the Website?
Home Alert delivers to you all of the properties matching your profile in the initial email. Subsequent emails will only deliver new properties (matching your profile) that have been added to the Website since your previous email. Your search on the Website, however, will return all properties that match your specifications


Are there any charges for using Domain.com.au.?
No. There are no costs to users for any of Domain.com.au's features.


How long do property advertisements remain on Domain.com.au?
Internet Only (Agent submitted) ads are removed from the site after 30 days, or 4 days after the Auction date (or whenever an Agent actively removes it); newspaper ads are removed from the site 7 days after publication. If an Agent submitted ad remains For Sale after 30 days or is passed in at auction, the Agent has the option to re-list the property.


Why can't I find properties matching my search criteria?
It is possible that you have refined your search criteria to a point where there are no exact matches. Reduce the limitations you have placed on your search (eg. widen the price range, reduce the number of keywords) in order to increase the chances of a match to your search.


Why, when I search Domain.com.au, am I advised that there are no Real Estate Agents in my area, when I know of at least one?
Real Estate Agents listed on Domain are those with whom we have a contractual arrangement. The "Find an Agent" feature is not designed to be a general directory for all Agents.
