Jeremy Wotherspoon

Canada's Jeremy Wotherspoon won his second World Cup speedskating 500 metres of the weekend and also took the 1,000 Sunday. The native of Red Deer, Alta., won the 500 in 34.14 seconds, slightly off the world record of 34.03 he set Friday at the Utah Olympic Oval. South Korea's Kang-Seok Lee, who held the record until Friday, was in the same pairing with Wotherspoon and finished second in 34.23.

Nesbitt leads Canada to 1-2 finish in 1500M

Canadian Christine Nesbitt led Canada to a 1-2 finish in the women's 1,500-metres at a long track speed skating World Cup event on Saturday.

Wotherspoon breaks 500m World record

Canadian long-track speedskater Jeremy Wotherspoon has broken the world record in the 500 metres.

Canada welcomes the world to Vancouver, February 12 through February 28, 2010.
