Business Development Manager

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
This position has a broad set of responsibilities spanning across all areas of business development for Digg. Responsibilities include identifying and targeting new distribution verticals, evangelizing the Digg value proposition to prospective and existing partners, and achieving measurable unique user growth through key distribution partnerships. Digg is looking for an exceptional individual who not only has the vision and entrepreneurial spirit necessary to excel in an early stage environment, but the focus and ability to prioritize and drive deals to completion. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evangelize the Digg value proposition to existing and new partners with a goal toward demonstrably increasing unique users and new registrations.
  • Manage relationships with existing partners and look for and execute deeper integration opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and make innovative recommendations to management as to relevant verticals, industries, and partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Internet industry experience and familiarity with the metrics and business drivers for a pure-play web business.

  • Excellent research skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize large amounts of information and present them concisely in both written and verbal formats.
  • 3-7 years of experience in a relevant field, with demonstrated success managing a deal pipeline and closing both large and small deals individually and as part of a team.
  • Masterful ability to create professional looking presentations, mockups, and product specifications that clearly articulate ideas and proposals.
  • Technical background or strong understanding of product development is a plus.

Director of Advertising Operations

LOCATION

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
This high profile opportunity will own and drive the advertising operations for one of the hottest sites on the web today. In implementing and managing Digg's advertising operations programs, this role is responsible for defining Digg's ad serving architecture and technologies, recommending a solution to the executive team, and managing the process of implementation. The position will also serve as the primary interface to Digg's internal and third party ad sales networks to ensure that advertising operations are fully optimized and the company is meeting and exceeding its delivery obligations to its network partners and clients.
Additional responsibilities include optimizing advertising performance related to site design, data analysis, predictive capabilities and recommending solutions that increase ad inventory and monetization potential.
This is a truly unique opportunity for a seasoned ad ops professional to define Digg's ad operations strategy and manage its execution. The position will be in a fast-paced environment and will require the ability to manage large partner relationships and internally manage cross-functional teams toward the execution of defined goals within short time frames. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills and should have experience managing ad operations for a highly trafficked website.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the analysis, acquisition and implementation of an ad serving solution that meets the needs of the company and its ad network partners
  • Serve as the lead operational interface with all third party ad sales network partners and communicate daily to ensure a positive working relationship
  • Analyze ad metrics and provide dashboards to internal stakeholders along with recommendations for optimizing user experience and monetization potential of Digg's advertising
  • Manage the execution of approved optimization recommendations by writing functional specs and working with the product and development teams to execute them
  • Educate external and partner sales teams on the company's website and the various sales opportunities, including basic advertising and new viral sponsorship campaigns
  • Provide regular and accurate inventory forecasts to management and to ad network partners
  • Manage custom sponsorship campaigns by working with sales and product teams to implement and by interfacing directly with advertising clients to scope
  • Help define potential custom sponsorship opportunities based on client needs, audience relevance, and Digg's product road map
QUALIFICATIONS

Web Designer

LOCATION

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Digg is looking for a multi-skilled designer to join our crew in San Francisco. We're hoping to find someone who can work with our Lead Designer on all of our design projects, big and small.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obviously, you'll be working a lot on our main site, but we'll also be looking for design work on periodic print projects, side sites, partner programs, and all the other little bits of work that crop up.
Because we've got a tiny design group here, you'll be working on everything from the planning stages, to initial concepts, to css/xhtml implementation, to working with the developers to integrate your work. You'll be brainstorming ideas and helping shape the ideas others introduce. You've got to really get off on creating intuitive interfaces that solve complex issues. You'll need to be able to see the whole user experience when designing the UI. You'll also need to be able to follow a defined visual style while helping us shape that style over the long term.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A strong portfolio of work that we can see would be an enormous asset for applicants. An accompanying description of your portfolio, describing its strengths and even its weaknesses, would be even better.
  • Very accomplished css and xhtml skills are required.
  • Experience with subversion, php, and javascript would be great.

Desktop/Enterprise Support Manager

LOCATION
San Francisco, CA (Potrero Hill)
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The successful candidate for this position at digg.com will be the primary desktop support resource as well as managing our corporate IT infrastructure. The job entails dealing with digg employees' mail servers/clients, accounting servers/clients, file servers, application support, cell phone integration, VOIP/voicemail and any other questions that involved the resources that employees need to do their work. This position does not deal with the operation of digg.com's servers or network infrastructure.We need someone to come in and take charge of Desktop/Enterprise support, to start as the first person in the team and then build a team around them. We are 80% Macs on the desktop with other OS's that run on mainly Apple hardware. It's a fun office but an incredibly hard-working one. We think we have a lot to offer the right person and expect your best effort and your creativity and dedication to getting the job done in return.
