Luke Sutherland is a writer and musician. He grew up in the Orkneys and now lives in London. He is the author of three novels. Jelly Roll was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award; his second, Sweetmeat, was published in. Venus as a Boy, published by Bloomsbury in March 2004, is the story of a boy's mythical journey: from a bullied and heartbroken childhood in Orkney, through a gift for loving and the sort of sex that makes people see angels, to a man in a room in Soho whose flesh is turning to gold.
