7/1/2007

The Frenzy is about to begin. After promoting this made-for-TV event approximately 685 times over the past 2 weeks, we are about to witness competitive balance in all its glory! Every single team competing side-by-side for every available free agent! Each team armed with a boatload of cash thanks to an expanded salary cap! Isn't that right Nashville GM David Poile? Hello? Hello? ...more

Game 4: This Time... It's Personal!!!

6/5/2007

Hey again, Bloggsy is back and this time he intends to actually write something (unlike Saturday night when he simply forgot to write anything and ended up writing about the NBA Finals instead.) Judging by all the comments on my new Lebron blog, I can see the NBA is catching on with a passion and a fire that the NHL needs to be concerned about. ...more

Onrait: I am not a witness

6/4/2007

I really believe that in Game 5, when LeBron elevated his game to a completely ridiculous level and was hitting the kind of shots that no NBA player should take en route to 48 points, something profound changed in the NBA. ...more

Why Watch When You Can Read?

5/29/2007

After that marathon Balls Across America Tour series, I thought it was important to keep the momentum going and so it was decided by the powers that be (Maggie The Monkey) that I should watch the Stanley Cup Final and tell you what happened. As you know I failed in this task. But I did sit in front of a laptop for Period One. ...more

Jay Onrait: Balls Across America #1: PNC Park

5/28/2007

Yep. PNC Park. Number One. This isn't exactly a revelation. A couple of years back ESPN.com sent a writer out to every Major League baseball park to rank them and PNC, just completed, topped the list. After seeing a game there on a beautiful May night, I now understand why. ...more

Balls Across America Tour - Camden Yards

5/25/2007

One of the first "new" throwback parks, Camden Yards made a believer out of all of baseball when it opened in 1992. Instead of a cavernous impersonal dome with little comfort and zero atmosphere (not that I'm thinking of a specific dome or anything) owner Peter Angelos spearheaded a park that took fans back to the good old days of baseball. ...more

Balls Across America Tour - Fenway Park

5/25/2007

When I returned to Toronto following the "Balls Across America" Tour and mentioned to anyone that we had seen two games at Fenway Park, the reaction was always the same."I hear it's a bit of a dump". Funny, because I didn't see it that way. Sure, it's old. Real old. But a game at Fenway is a freaking spectacle. ...more
