Back Issues
As we are now an online publication we no longer store archives of The Sporting Life newspaper in-house. There are two ways through which you may be able to find the edition(s) you are looking for:
Historic Newspapers
You can obtain copies of The Sporting Life for a small range of dates at Historic Newspapers.
At last check, they had copies from the following years in stock: 1956, 1957, 1958, 1963, 1970, 1977, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 & 1997.
The British Library The British Library has a full collection of The Sporting Life, 30 April 1859-12 May 1998. Back issues on microfilm or hard copies of the newspaper may be read and researched at their Colindale Library. See for full details.
The BL is now conducting a project to digitise their collections and make them searchable and available via the web. Unfortunately, it may be some time until we see The Sporting Life included in this online collection as the first phase of that project is to digitise their regional newspaper collection. For more information on this project click here
Good luck with your research!
