A former NHL goalie, Glenn Healy brings a unique perspective to TSN's all-encompassing NHL coverage.
Healy joined TSN in 2002. The versatile commentator handles a variety of roles on TSN: he is the game analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Cuthbert for the NHL on TSN; an analyst/reporter for Molson Canadian Leafs Hockey regional broadcasts; and an in-studio analyst for NHL national broadcasts.
In his 15 NHL seasons, Healy, who was born in Pickering, Ont., played for the LA Kings, NY Islanders, NY Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. The highlight of his career came as a member of the Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers in 1994. Another memorable moment in Healy's career came during the second round of the 1992-93 playoffs, when in an improbable upset, Healy's Islanders won the series over Mario Lemieux and the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3. Healy feels fortunate to have played with Wayne Gretzky in Gretzky's first season with the LA Kings in 1988-89. With Gretzky as the star attraction, hockey became one of the hottest tickets in California.
Outside of hockey, Healy's passion is playing the bagpipes. Healy plays with two bands - the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band and the Highland Creek Band. Healy has played at the Ground Zero Memorial for the past five years, four times with Paul McCartney, and once at Carnegie Hall. The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band is featured on John McDermott's DVD "A Time to Remember." Healy and the band will travel to Vimy, France to play at the Vimy Ridge War Memorial's 90th anniversary in 2007.
