Not one to sugarcoat anything, Pierre McGuire "tells it like it is" as the colour commentator for TSN's national NHL broadcasts.

McGuire provides a unique perspective by breaking down the key match-ups and plays with his trademark telestrator. McGuire gives viewers the analysis and commentary they want - and need - to hear.

In addition to his work on TSN's all-encompassing NHL coverage, McGuire provides analysis for TSN's coverage of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship and NHL Entry Draft.

McGuire began his broadcasting career in 1997 as a radio colour commentator for the Montreal Canadiens. He served as an analyst on Habs This Week and also on pre-game shows for the Ottawa Senators. McGuire fared so well in a guest appearance on TSN in 1999 that he made his way into TSN's regular lineup on various hockey shows. In 2000 and 2001, McGuire became a fixture on TSN's hockey coverage as a regular analyst on Molson That's Hockey, Molson That's Hockey 2 and Molson Canadian Leafs Hockey.

McGuire currently writes a hockey column for Sports Illustrated and also previously wrote for the Pittsburgh Tribune.

McGuire's vast knowledge and passion for the game is renowned throughout the NHL and television industry. McGuire's continued contributions to hockey were recognized this year when he was selected by The Hockey News as one of the game's 100 most powerful and influential people. In 2004, McGuire received a Gemini Award nomination as Best Sports Play By Play or Analyst.

In 1984, McGuire began a long and successful career in coaching. His first coaching job was as an assistant at Hobart College in Geneva, NY. Over the next several years, McGuire coached at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, and St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. In 1990, McGuire was hired as a scout by the Pittsburgh Penguins and won two Stanley Cups with the team.

After the 1992 season, McGuire moved to the Hartford Whalers organization for two years where he served as an assistant coach, assistant general manager and eventually head coach.

From 1994 to 1996, McGuire worked as a pro scout and assistant coach in the Ottawa Senators organization.

Prior to his coaching career, McGuire played professional hockey in Europe.
