The Montreal Canadiens cut 27 players from their roster on Monday, with 25 of them going to the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs. Among the cuts are goaltenders Yann Danis, Loic Lacasse and Cedrick Desjardins and defencemen Andrew Archer, Mathieu Biron, Jean-Philippe Cote, Jon Gleed and Pavel Valentenko, forwards Mathieu Aubin, Ajay Baines, Matt D'Agostini, Sergei Kostitsyn, Janne Lahti, Corey Locke, Eric Manlow, Duncan Milroy, Ryan Russell and Gregory Stewart.

Maple Leafs send Pogge, Earl to Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned defencemen Jaime Sifers and Chris Harrington, centre John Mitchell, left wing Robbie Earl and goaltender Justin Pogge to Toronto of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Pete Vandermeer signs with Rampage

The Phoenix Coyotes have signed left wing Pete Vandermeer to a one-year deal with the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. Financial terms were not disclosed.
