Mike: Hey, look who's back.
(Carlos is escorting Edie down the street.)
Susan: Oh, my gosh, she's out of the clinic.
Edie: Thanks, darling.
(Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle and Susan approach Edie.)
Lynette: Hi.
Edie: Hi. Oh, careful. The neck.
Lynette: Oh, sorry.
Edie: Thank you all so much for the cards. Sometimes it takes a near tragedy to realize just how much you're loved.
(Edie tries to put her arm in Carlos's arm, and he pulls away.)
Carlos: So why don't you talk to your friends and I'll go unpack the car.
Edie: Oh, thanks, sweetheart.
(Carlos drives away.)
Edie: I have to admit that I was a little concerned about how you would react when you saw me, but this, throwing me a party!
(The ladies stare at each other awkwardly.)
Susan: Well, we just all love ya!
Lynette: Edie, you look great, especially...you know... given the circumstances.
Edie: Circumstances? Oh! You mean the fact that I tried to hang myself? Oh, it's OK. The doctor encouraged me to talk about it.
Bree: Well, surely, not over food.
Edie: Well, Carlos and I talk about it all the time. You know, and this whole thing has just brought us closer together. In fact, we've actually talked about marriage.
(The ladies laugh nervously. Katherine joins the group as Gabrielle walks away.)
Katherine: Hello. I don't think we've met. I'm Katherine Mayfair, your new neighbor.
Edie: Oh, Edie. It's a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to my party. (edit) Susan: Hey! Is something wrong?
Julie: It just... Dylan and I used to be best friends. I mean, we did everything together.
Susan: I know, she was like a sister to you.
Julie: Well, that girl I've been hanging out with... And I know this is going to sound crazy but... that's not the same girl. (edit) Mary Alice: There is a certain time of morning. It occurs after the kids have left for school, and husbands have head it off to work. It's a time when women think of the secrets they've been keeping from their friends. And how shocked they would be if the truth is discovered and how they'll do everything in their power to keep that from happening. (edit) Carlos: I'm going to the Scavo's.
Edie: Oh... Can I come?
Carlos: Hm... No. (edit) Bree: (about her daughter) I know what I've created and that's the real humiliation. (edit)

In the Season Two finale (Remember), it is established that Bree's family moved into the neighborhood in 1994, twelve years before that episode aired. Other flashbacks in that episode (especially the Applewhite's moving from Chicago) establish that it definitely was 2006 by the end of the Second Season. So, if Katherine left Wisteria Lane twelve years before the start of Season Four, it would mean she left in 1995 and should have met and known Bree. Yet the two women act like they have never met before this episode. (Later this season, the Halloween episode establishes that events are running more or less on real time.) (edit) Despite the fact we have seen Lynette and the boys in the front of the house you can see how they have disappeared when Katherine is talking to her husband. (edit) Teri Hatcher and Dana Delany have both played Lois Lane, Hatcher on Lois&Clark;: The New Adventures of Superman and Delany on Superman The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited. (edit)
