ACCUSATIONS OF ILLEGAL INFORMATION COLLECTION BY SPS DISCREDIT BULGARIA’S IMAGE —PURVANOV
09:05 Mon 13 Aug 2007

Several campaigns in recent months have alleged Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov and the National Protection Service (NPS) to have unlawfully collected information about the behaviour of politicians and magistrates.

After examinations, no evidence was found against Purvanov or the NPS.

European media reports alleging that the Bulgarian president had unlawfully collected information had had a negative impact on Bulgaria’s image, Purvanov told journalists, as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio.

Someone had to take account of all the lies that had been told, Purvanov said.

Purvanov was being criticised about his presidential campaign, which had been sponsored by the businessman Manol Velev, who was shot dead.

Purvanov said that he had never tried to hide who had sponsored his campaigns. The list of sponsors was well known and he had avoided the participation of groups with bad reputations, he said.

The main question, according to Purvanov, was to find the dossiers from the transitions period and the dossiers concerning shady privatisation deals.

So, Purvanov wants to talk about lies, eh? Good. Let's begin with HIS lies to the whole nation! What a shameless charlatan!
