Thomas Whateley - biographical informationDates: d1772 Life: English politician and author of Observations on Modern Gardening, illustrated by Descriptions (1770). It contained descriptions of Hagley Hall, The Leasowes, Painshill, Woburn Farm and Stowe. The book was translated into French and German. The book explained and popularised the Serpentine Style, as Dezallier D'Arganville had done the style of Le Notre. Example(s):
