AFLPA announces MVP award category nominees

The awards night will be held Grand Final eve, Friday September 29th at Melbourne's Park Hyatt.

The AFLPA MVP awards are the only AFL playing awards determined by AFL footballers. 
 
This year, over 600 AFL players nominated those amongst their peers worthy of special recognition across a number of categories, including; 

• The Leigh Matthews Trophy for the Most Valuable Player
• Best Captain 
• Robert Rose award for Most Courageous Player 
• Best First Year Player 
• AFLPA Education & Training Excellence award
• Marn Grook Award for best emerging Indigenous Player 
  The Grant Hattam Trophy for excellence in football journalism

Other Awards to be presented include the;

• Mike Fitzpatrick Scholarships, supporting 15 - 17 year old players in their education & training whilst they aspire to an AFL career.

This year AFL player all-star band "The Number 1 Draft Picks" comprising Tom Harley, Aaron Davey, Russell Robertson & Andrew Walker will be perform live at the gala event.
