The AFLPA has now commenced negotiations with the AFL in regard to the review of Total Player Payments (TPP) and other CBA matters for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
We have been provided with details of AFL and AFL Club financial results from the past three years as well forecast information for the next five years which incorporate revenue increases resulting from the new TV broadcasting deal.
Despite widespread media reporting, neither the AFL nor the AFLPA have put forward a proposal for any specific increased amount of TPP at this stage, however the AFLPA will provide a preliminary outline of our views to the AFL this week on the back of our analysis of the figures. We anticipate being in a position to inform all players via Club Delegates of the nature of the AFLPA's proposed wage claim in the next couple of weeks.
The AFLPA Executive met last week and confirmed that expectations are high amongst the players across the 16 clubs for a positive outcome which will see players receive an equitable share of the increases in AFL revenue over the next few years.
