One hundred & twenty two (122) newly drafted AFL players and rookies today completed the joint AFL Players' Association / AFL Induction Camp, held at Melbourne's School of Sport & Recreation Management.
The Induction Camp is the first stage of an ongoing and industry wide player education and development program, which focuses on equipping players with the required decision making, communication and resilience skills to make the most of their career in AFL football.
Camp participants received practical information and advice from relevant area experts and peers and participated in a number of workshops aimed at assisting them manage the expectations and pressures associated with playing football in the AFL.
Players also received information on the range of services & initiatives available to players as members of the AFLPA and receive an overview of the AFL industry and its required policies.
Session topics included; Induction to the AFL, Cultural Diversity in AFL, AFL Anti-Doping Code and Illicit Drug Policy, AFL Gambling Policy, Respect and Responsibility, AFL players and the law discussion.
A camp highlight was the participation of a number of present players who presented at the camp, including Glenn Archer, Adam Ramanauskas, Luke Ball, Marc Murphy and Xavier Clarke.
