3 Pillars ProgramThe AFL Players' Association's '3 Pillars Program' The '3 Pillars' Program forms an integral part of the AFLPA's Player Development Program (PDP). The program has been implemented to provide opportunities and support for practical education and experience relating to small business, buying property and general wealth creation. It aims to enhance the post-football employment prospects of suitably qualified and/or career oriented current and recently retired AFL players.
In today's professional sporting environment, athletes have sought to establish active business interests outside of sport. Many athletes naturally possessing high achievement personas and having accumulated some degree of personal wealth and reputation will seek to establish their own businesses and/or business interests as opposed to seeking employment with an organisation. The Business Growth Program has been developed to assist professional athletes prepare for the creation and growth of successful businesses. Practical business coaching is provided by people who can 'walk the talk'! Underpinning the program is the action learning approach to ensure the program blends a mix of usable theory and practice to achieve realistic and usable outcomes for the participants.
