Summary: Geelong has an enormous motivation to
beat Brisbane this week. While the Cats had the minor premiership
sewn up some time ago, their run of 15 wins was broken last Sunday
by Port Adelaide. They won't want to go into the finals series on
the back of successive losses or the doubters will start to rumble.
The Lions, meanwhile, have the slimmest of chances of making the
eight, their fate depending on the outcome of other crucial
matches, including the Friday night game. Their fate could already
be decided before the game through an Adelaide win, and they would
then be deflated with little left to give. Brisbane has the
manpower, but their main spearhead Jonathan Brown was well beaten
last week and might be in the mood to offer little against a
spirited Geelong defence.
Key: Redemption is on the agenda for the Cats, for
the club itself to enter the finals on a positive note and for
fiery forward Cam Mooney in particular, who had one of his least
impressive games of the year last week.
Tip: Geelong by 30 points
