[edit] Neighbourhoods in Chester

Chester has a very diverse mix of neighbourhoods, as different as red sandstone and Cheshire cheese. There are city wards in or close-to the town centre, urban wards which are largely residential and have varying degrees of prosperity (the largest being Blacon) and outlying rural wards (the smallest being rather mysterious Farndon) mostly given over to farming but comprising various villages. Towards the west, across the Welsh border, the adjacent village of Saltney has a close connection with Chester and Chester's football ground is actually in Wales.

A list of Chester Wards by name with links to masses of demographic information can be found on the City Council website, which also contains links in map form - but only to the identity and contact details of the local councillors.

Further information, mostly relating to the city and urban wards, can be found on the award-winning Chester: A Virtual Stroll site by Steve Howe. Chester also has several area committees which relate to groups of wards.

The links below lead to Chester Wiki pages on each neighbourhood (see neighbourhood template). In some cases, wards have been combined in the table under a single listing and entries have been added for some places, such as Bache, that are locations within other wards. Where pages exist in the main Wikipedia, these have been added, as have links to other sites of possible interest.

In May 2007 the views (a sort of Chester Eurovison) stood as listed!

The map above contains the same links.

NB this is Chester as it is in 2007 - proposed local government reforms (linked here) may mean that the distinction between the City and the County becomes less clear.

Is your village/town near Chester but not listed? .. either add an entry or try "ukvillages" - a bit commercial but sometimes good for photo's.
