[edit] Info

Deli-vert, Hoole's newest delicatessen, occupies the premises of the old Sullivan & Allan deli which shut unexpectedly in spring 2007.

Deli-vert's arrival is very welcome in Hoole's thriving niche food and drink scene. And what a cracker it's shaping up to be!

At time of writing, Deli-vert had only been open for 4 days but owner Chris Mayer had already sold out of vast cooked and sliced local hams and many other fresh goods. Shop policy is 50/50 - to stock at least 50% of goods from within 50 miles, so the emphasis is on quality local produce and supporting the Made in Cheshire marque. On our visit, we spotted both savoury and fruit pies made on the farm, Patchwork pates from just over the Welsh border, a huge selection of Cheshire cheeses, chocolate cake from Northwich and lots more.

There is also a very wide selection of store-cupboard goods, many organic or fair-trade if not local, including olive oils, coffees, chutneys, etc.

If Deli-vert can sustain its busy opening salvo, it will be a real gem in Faulkner Street.
