Brighton

Many Romano-British finds and structures have been found on the narrow coastal plain in the Brighton area. At Springfield Road, a small masonry villa (c.20 m sq.) was partially excavated during the 19th and 20th centuries. It probably dated to the 1st - late 3rd century AD, and was associated with a number of 'rubbish' pits and 2nd century AD burials. Most of the recorded finds came from the burials. Other finds came from Patcham.
