Karen Karbo  

Karen Karbo is the author of three novels, all of which were named New York Times Notable Books. Her latest, Generation Ex, was published in 2001. Winner of the General Electric Young Writer Award she is in addition the recipient of an NEA Grant. Also a journalist, her work has appeared in many publications including Elle, Vogue, Redbook, Esquire, the New York Times, and the Portland Oregonian. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, daughter and stepchildren.

The Oregon Book Awards presented the Sarah Winnemucca Award for Creative Nonfiction to Karen Karbo for The Stuff of Life.
