In a February 2006 letter to the primates and moderators of the Anglican Communion, Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold conveyed his support for the listening process and his hope that there may be more opportunities for Anglicans to meet face to face. The Anglican Communion’s listening process was first requested at the Lambeth Conference of Bishops in 1998 and gained fresh impetus at the Anglican Consultative Council meeting in June 2005. It is intended to honor the process of mutual listening throughout the Communion, including listening to the experiences of gay and lesbian people. "Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus," a 25-minute documentary produced by the Episcopal Church's Office of Communication, follows a pilgrimage throughout the Holy Land, including visits to Bethlehem, Galilee, Jerusalem and Nazareth. Led by tour guide Iyad Qumri, the pilgrims, members of the Diocese of Los Angeles, made the journey October 15-25 as part of a mission trip that built on an existing companion relationship with the Diocese of Jerusalem.
More than 1,000 young Episcopalians representing almost every diocese in the Episcopal Church gathered at Berea College in Kentucky July 26-31 for the 2005 Episcopal Youth Event. The program included a variety of music, worship, public forums and workshops, all helping to capture the week's theme: "Can you catch the spirit off the beaten path?" The 13th meeting of the ACC -- abbreviated as ACC-13 -- is being held June 19-28 at the University of Nottingham, England.
