Cuisinart Stand Mixers

Cuisinart has finally entered the stand mixer market, with 2 mixers that are more powerful than anything KitchenAid has come up with yet. The new 7-quart and 5.5-quart Cuisinart stand mixers have 1000 and 800 watts of power, respectively. Features include tilt-back heads for easy bowl access, 12 mixing speeds, plus "continuous fold" and "pulse fold" modes. The mixers come with 3 culinary tools (a whisk, a paddle, and a dough hook), and have 3 power outlets (high, medium, and slow) for connecting all kinds of attachments, from pasta makers to juicers.

Martha Stewart's Macy's Collection

First there was the Martha Stewart Everyday collection at Kmart. Now the domestic diva has a new line of kitchen, bed and bath, and dining and entertaining products at Macy's. It's decidedly more upscale than her Kmart line (the sheets are 100% cotton, for example) but the prices are still reasonable. Shown here is the 6-piece taupe melamine bowl set ($29.99). The bowls stack for easy storage and are dishwasher-safe. See all Martha Stewart products.

Armstrong American Duet Laminate Flooring

Thinking about renovating your kitchen? Go get the August issue of Consumer Reports magazine - they tested everything from appliances to countertops to flooring. In the laminate flooring department (think Pergo), they measured how well different brands resisted wear, scratches, dents, stains, and sunlight, and Armstrong's American Duet laminate flooring got the highest rating (Pergo came in 4th). It comes in narrow and wide planks, in a variety of colors and finishes, and installs easily. See all laminate flooring.

Retractable Dog Leash with Flashlight and Radio

There's a lot of stuff you need to take with you when you walk the dog at night: Coat, keys, ball, leash, plastic bag, flashlight. (And the dog). But that list just got a little shorter, thanks to this 12-foot retractable dog leash. It's got a built-in flashlight, so you can see where you're going (and what you need that plastic bag for), as well as a built-in radio. The radio might seem a little silly, but if you enjoy the music, your evening walk might last longer, which is good for both you and Fido. More retractable dog leashes.

A Flask for a Giant

Orvis calls this oversized flask a "unique gift for men." Apparently they haven't met some of us our female relatives. Made of polished stainless steel, it holds up to a gallon of your favorite liquor (note: they recommend not filling it with carbonated beverages), but good luck trying to sneak it in to work a game. The flask can also be monogrammed - highly recommended if your initials are R.U.M.
