GameDaily
With short but sweet game play, easy puzzles and jokes that had the staff hurting from laughter, this episode needs to be played.

It's a little longer, a lot meatier and a lot more fun than the last four chapters, though, and the price...is still hard to argue with

This isn't the funniest episode - that was Abe Lincoln Must Die! - but I would call it the most fun. It is silly and the Internet references are spread across the past fifteen years or more, making it at once naive and relevant while keeping the emphasis on fun, Fun, FUN throughout.

Adventure Gamers
It's remarkable that Telltale can still, at this point in the series, reinvent the entire concept and create such an original and delightful adventure experience. The best episode yet.

Armchair Empire
Just as before, gameplay isn’t much of an hour-eating affair, clocking in around two hours to complete, which goes back to the norm for the first three episodes while disappointingly straying from the longer gaming session to be had in Abe Lincoln Must Die!

It's easy to love a game like Reality 2.0, it tells one of the best stories in the season, it's full of laugh out loud moments, and most gamers will get a kick out of all of the classic video game references.

If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how the series developed before committing to it, then Reality 2.0 should be enough to convince you to go for it at this point.

All in all, this episode doesn't quite reach the pinnacle of excellence that episode four managed, but its gags and puzzles are as clever as ever. [June 2007, p.71]

Reality 2.0 is the first Sam & Max episode I would recommend without reservation. I laughed, I cried (with laughter), and I think everyone who plays will do the same.

The puzzles are interesting and sometimes challenging, and the humor is spot-on. The story is a hoot, and the voice-acting is great. What more could you ask for?

Particularly welcome though is the increasing comfort Telltale are apparently gaining when it comes to handling the scripts and situations – it really is starting to feel more and more like the Sam & Max of ye olden days.

A fun experience crammed with humor. I'd recommend it inexperienced gamers as well as players who are into classic adventure games.

It's like going to bed with clean sheets, and squirming around because you'd forgotten how great going to bed was. [June 2007, p.85]

IGN
The jokes and puzzles are much more satisfying than we've seen in the series so far. Our only complaint now is that there doesn't seem to be enough connection between the episodes.

Reality 2.0 is definitely a step in the right direction for Telltale, with a more interesting premise, a better structure and some absolutely hilarious set-pieces to look back on.

Creating the rat cannon was a sure fire giggle and I loved collecting coins al la Mario in order to pay Bosco for his latest sales item.

While you'd probably be lost if you came in this late to the series, the fifth episode of Sam & Max is sharp and funny, more so than the previous installments.

But all transgressions are forgiven once you make it to Episode 5's finale -- a surprising, sparse, and spot-on little jaunt into "Reality 1.5" that'll likely stand as the series' landmark moment once it's bundled into a season.

Reality 2.0 marks a dramatic improvement in the pure "gameplay" portion of the game, and the storyline is certainly funny enough, but we'd love to see future episodes of the series have this level of interactivity with the kinds of incredible scripts we know that Telltale Games team is capable of producing.

Still fun, but disappointing. Here's hoping for a great finale. [June 2007, p.83]
