Satan, your game has arrived. It spits up blood and pisses vinegar. It sprouts horns from its head like the proud minion of evil that it is. It shoots lightning bolts, for cripes' sake. It's a game of pure evil. And even purer entertainment. It's also the best action game on the planet.

Quake is not just another 3D shoot-em-up game. It's a whole new level of gaming. The amazing performance and features of Quake are the future of gaming. Whether you are new to this type of game or you are an old "Doom" hack, you will fall in love with Quake.

Adrenaline Vault
The graphics, sound, and intelligence factors combine to make a game that will scare the hell out of you! The main problem that Quake seems to have is a lack of identity. It wants to combine "DOOM" elements with Hexen elements which creates a mish-mash effect.

Quake is fun. Quake is cool. Quake is the best game of its type I have ever seen. Quake won't let me sleep at night. However, Quake could be better.

PC Gamer
Quake isn't destined to revolutionize action games, but it's a very good first-person shooter from the guys who invented the genre. [October 1996, p.150]

The shareware version before you buy this. Good, but it doesn't quite live up to the hype.

Tom G. gave it a10:
This is sure to keep you up all night, blasting your way through hordes of monsters with some hardware sure to hook you up with girls... assuming you can survive. What makes it shine, is the online multiplayer and the OpenGL addon. Totally worth it.

Dimi gave it a10:
Revolutionized the FPS-scene and gaming on the net for ever.

v1m gave it a10:
Never surpassed. The FPS genre's highwater mark is now a decade old, and all who love Quake ask: why cannot it not be equaled?

Karl M. gave it a10:
The divergence of of 2d from 3d. Forget duke nukem, forget the majority of games today. This game had, HAS style, like other great works of art, this is a masterpiece, an inspired synthesis of style, adrenaline, and pure terror. In many ways superior to Doom 3, plus it runs on anything from your Pda to Osx!

Jeff M. gave it a 10:
This game was revolutionary and changed many's perspective on FPS. The large following of Quake and jumpstarted the online gaming community or deathmatch teamplay. Quake's engine created by id was and still is a model used for future games.

Marc gave it a 10:
I love this scary, revolutionary romp. Love it love it love it.
