It
happened yet again. While there were only two movies going steady
at the box office last week, it has zeroed in on to just one this
week (making our lives easier for a weekly countdown). No rewards
for guesses though. Superstar's movies always ruled the charts however
it is one of these days when no other movies dared to stand before
his latest attempt - Sivaji. Superstar reigns the box office and
how? Without a company that is. Well, all we have to ask is, does
it ever get lonely at the top? |

So what if it is two weeks now ever since Sivaji had been released
at the cinemas. The initial excitement has not drained yet and
if you could lay your hands on a ticket without much effort consider
yourself lucky. Such is the exhilaration Sivaji has generated
among fans and public alike. The media hype was worth every bit
of it; the fans gathering in front of the cinemas scream so. Not
many are satisfied with their first rendezvous and are turning
repeat audiences to catch a second glimpse of the superstar. After
all these festivities do not happen often.
Trade
Talk:
Miracles happen but not often, trade tends to say. May be once
in two years? It has been a long time this kind of money is churned
out of a movie in Kodambakkam. And going by the recent trade reports,
the cash flow isn't going to take a rain check at least for the
next couple of months or so.
Public Talk:
The theatres just could not contain the excitement of an ordinary
fan who is bursting into shrieks and whistles whenever the superstar
makes his appearance on the screen. What if the critics thought
the movie is plagued with Shankar's 'one man social crusader'
theme, fans are definitely not complaining. Well, they get to
see their icon only after a couple of years and his irrepressible
charisma is all over the movie. A back-to-back entertainer with
a younger superstar, what more can a fan ask for? They seem to
have obliged and are letting their hair down at the halls.
