All Things Considered, June 16, 2007 · For Nigerian artist Joseph Omotoye, the human body can be a one-man band.
Omotoye, known as Jojo Bodybeats, uses his entire body — including his mouth, lips, shoulder, chest, stomach and a spoon beaten against his cheeks — to make extraordinary "body music."
Omotoye says that for him, everyday bodily functions can be opportunities to make music on his "bodiophone." He belches, sneezes, talks, eats and drinks to his own rhythm.
