| Hydroelectric Design Center |
The Hydroelectric Design Center (HDC) exists to service the Corps in executing its hydroelectric and large pumping plant missions. HDC does all size projects, from non-routine maintenance design to major rehabilitation and total plant design. It has extensive expertise in rehabilitation programs, testing of major equipment and systems, failure analysis, seismic design, power plant control and data acquisition, and more. It also works closely with the Hydropower Analysis Center in Portland, Oregon, for analysis of power system operation and economics. HDC was established to maintain the capability and proficiency required for the planning, engineering, design, and criteria development for all existing and new hydroelectric power plants and large flood control or water supply pumping plants. Engineering Regulation (ER 1110-2-109) provides, in detail, the Corps requirements to use HDC and provides guidance for interfacing the resources of HDC with the requesting field office. The Power Branch, Water Management Division, Northwestern Division, serves as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HAC (formerly known as "Hydropower System Analysis and Economic Evaluation Mandatory Center of Expertise"). The purpose of the HSA MCX is to maintain the expertise and capability to perform power system analysis regarding hydropower project outputs and economic benefit evaluations for existing and new hydropower projects of all Corps of Engineers powerplant installations. Protective design mission areas consist of the following:

d.Design that provides protection from chemical agents, biological agents, or radiological agents.

f.Design of camouflage, concealment, and deception (CCD) measures applied to permanent facilities.
g.Design for security engineering, including physical security and force protection/anti-terrorism. | CADD/GIS Technology Center for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment |
The Center sets CADD and GIS data standards, promotes system integration, supports centralized acquisition of equipment and software, and provides assistance for the installation, training, operation, and maintenance of CADD/GIS and facilities management (FM) systems. This also includes directing specific application developments, promoting communications, developing and promoting standards, furnishing technical advice, interfacing with professional organizations and industry, evaluating technological developments, and recommending necessary CADD/GIS and FM policy. |

| Centers of Standardization |
In 1985 the DA Facilities Standardization Program was established. Under this program, DA standard design packages for facility types that are repetitively designed and constructed at Army installations around the world are developed to the definitive design level (10-15%) and once approved are mandatory for Army MILCON. Thirty one DA standard design packages have been developed. HQUSACE has established 8 COS to develop and maintain the definitive and standard design packages.
Once a DA standard is established, the primary duties of the COS are to track and monitor the use of the standard throughout USACE, evaluate the functional responsiveness and technical performance of the standard(s) during design, construction, and post-construction for customer satisfaction, adaptability, constructability, engineering and technical sufficiency, life cycle cost performance, lessons-learned, technical feedback and compliance with current design standards and construction criteria. On an as needed and reimbursable basis, each COS can provide technical support to other USACE activities applying the standard (s) to a specific project. The COS also provides programming and technical support to the OACSIM on issues such as adaptability and waiver requests. |

| Concrete Technology Center |
Provides hands-on support for planning, design, construction, testing, forensics, O&M;, repair & rehabilitation, independent technical review and problem solving for USACE Districts, Military Commands and Installations, other agencies and governments, as well as criteria development support, for a wide variety of concrete structures and pavements.
CTDX personnel provide expert technical assistance and testing services to USACE Districts, Military Commands and Installations, other agencies and governments in the areas of concrete materials, concrete structural and materials design, concrete construction technology, forensic studies, and repair and rehabilitation of concrete structures.
Typical projects include dams, hydraulic structures, bridges, airfield pavements and roads, and buildings.
