What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based content syndication format used to deliver constantly updated headline feeds to readers. Developers can also use RSS feeds to pull our content onto their websites. Our RSS feeds deliver headlines, descriptions, and links back to today's stories on each section of the Mail & Guardian Online. It's an easy way for you to be alerted when content that interests you appears on our site.
How do I use RSS?
To use RSS, you will need to first download a special RSS news reader that will allow you to collect and display RSS feeds. Many readers are available, mostly free. We also offer an automated desktop news widget called NewsFlash that uses M&G; Online's RSS feeds -- you can find out more about it here.
Here are some examples of RSS readers:
Once you've downloaded your RSS reader, simply copy the web addresses from M&G; Online's RSS feeds (see links below) into your RSS reader software, as directed.
M&G; Online RSS feeds
Our main breaking news RSS feed delivers about 50+ news stories daily (and about 10-15 stories per day on weekends), but there are also a variety of specific news channels you can choose from. You can access them all below:
You can also instantly add our RSS feed to your personalised Google homepage or Google's feed reader, by clicking here.
If you want to put M&G; Online headlines on your website and you do not want to use RSS, we also offer our feeds in a simple, easy to use javascript format.
