OK, what is this podcast stuff all about?
Via a podcast feed you are able to listen to audio files we make available regularly online via our website and RSS feeds. Podcasting is a way of publishing audio to the web, allowing you to subscribe to a particular podcast (we're hoping you will subscribe to ours) and automatically receive the latest shows on a regular basis, in this case weekly or daily.
How do I subscribe?
If you have iTunes installed on your computer, you just need to: - click the "Add feed to iTunes" link above, OR
- copy the web address in the input box above labelled "Podcast feed address" and paste it into your podcast software, OR
- click on the "Get Podcast feed" link and then, on the resulting page, cut and paste the web address displayed in your browser address bar into your podcasting software.
What do I need to listen to the show?
If you do not have podcasting software, the simplest and easiest would be to listen to the Mp3 audio file by clicking on any of the episode links in the "Episode archive" area. This means you can listen to the audio without subscribing to the feed. You would have to return every week to get the new podcast, as opposed to the audio file being "pushed" to you on a regular basis via subscription. This is an MP3 audio file that you can listen to on a range of devices and programs.
However, if you want to subscribe via the podcast-feed method and have the audio downloaded each week automatically, you will need podcasting software such as iTunes, Juice or Doppler. If you want them, do a Google search for them. They are free to download and use on either Apple Mac or your PC.
Do I have to have an iPod or iTunes to do this?
You do not have to have an iPod or iTunes; you don't even have to have an MP3 player. You can listen to the audio on a PC or Apple Mac. The podcast will work on a range of podcast software programs or MP3 players. You can also listen to the podcast directly from your PC -- you do not have to download it to an MP3 player.
Where's the daily news podcast?
It's coming soon! We will soon launch a shorter daily news podcast that will give you a wrap on the news. In the meantime, enjoy our weekly podcast ... and watch this space!
How much does it cost?
It's free. And will remain so.
