"A sexually literate person is someone who knows enough about sexual health to be comfortable with who they are and what they’re doing."

-- Deb Levine, Author, Sex Educator

About American Sexuality

Editor-in-Chief, Joyce Nishioka

American Sexuality magazine publishes evidence-based argument about sex in a variety of fields as well as sexuality-oriented art and reviews. We are particularly interested in bringing the worlds of scholarship to bear on public and policy debates. We highlight provocative positions often overlooked in the current political climate, and we also aim to reframe public thinking about sexuality.
Researchers and writers, graduate students, and community-based advocates and practitioners are encouraged to submit proposals for articles in any of the following areas:

Arts & Culture
Community & Advocacy
Law, Politics & Policy
Science, Technology & Medicine
We also welcome well-crafted opinion pieces.

Publishing in American Sexuality is a unique opportunity to disseminate your research and expertise in an international forum aimed at informing discussions in multiple arenas. American Sexuality is an online magazine published by San Francisco State University’s National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC), directed by anthropologist Gilbert Herdt, Ph.D. with major long-term funding from the Ford Foundation.

The published article will be written in a style that is accessible to non-academic audiences. Please visit American Sexuality and the NSRC website at: http://www.americansexuality.org and http://nsrc.sfsu.edu. Feel free to contact Joyce Nishioka, Editor-in-Chief, at joyce@americansexuality.org.
