A Fine Day in RT Land: Slap Bracelet Swag and Bill Simmons [ Media Mentions , The Office ]
by Jen Yamato

MOOD: Nerdy

Here at Rotten Tomatoes we like to bring you closer to the movies by presenting the odd movie marketing swag we get in the mail, and today is a very special day indeed for swag.

Today, we nearly cried with nostalgic joy.

Today, we received the "Kickin' It Old Skool" commemorative '80s-style slap bracelet.

"Kickin' It Old Skool" = Jamie Kennedy in a Rip Van Winkle-esque "guy wakes up after a 20 year coma" tale about a dancer still breakin' 2 who must bust a move to win the girl of his dreams.

Now, some of us grew up in the '80s, and some of us may even still have our own authentic slap bracelets in a dusty box somewhere at home...(hey Yari Film Group, you got any promotional Pocket Rockers to give out?)...but in case you don't remember, slap bracelets are those fabric-covered metal snappy accessories that are flat...until you slap them against an outstretched forearm and THEY CURL AROUND YOUR WRIST. Amazing!

Now, I surely didn't have any fancy, neoprene-covered slap bracelets in my day like the "KIOS" ones, but heck, I'm of the mind that any slap bracelet is a good slap bracelet. For added measure, see our handy guide to the slap bracelet below, demonstrated by RT's own Nick Hershey.

Voila!

Mere seconds after indulging in the nostalgia of the 1980s, we had more cool news: our recent Top Sports Movie List has been mentioned by ESPN.com's resident sports columnist/pop culture freak Bill Simmons! Huzzah!

Simmons enthusiast Tim raises his fist in triumph!

Editors Tim and Jen celebrate with Mr. T; then pity him because "Rocky III" didn't make the Sports List

Today in the RT Office: It's Easter Tuesday! [ The Office ]
by Jen Yamato

MOOD: Grateful

Today's very special edition of the Office Blog is brought to you by Easter. Specifically, the heaven-sent confection known as the chocolate-covered marshmallow bunny! (And yes, I know Easter was *technically* last weekend.)

Said bunny called to my grumbling tummy this afternoon, all the way from Tim's desk across the cubicle. That's where Mr. Chocolate Bunny has been nesting ever since Tim got the Easter basket that his mom sent this week. How did the lovely, thoughtful, caring Mrs. Ryan know that we were in dire need of Easter goodies?

Miracle or no, I am eternally grateful for the token of seasonal cheer. Though I myself am in my twenties (exactly where I will never divulge), I haven't gotten the coveted Easter basket in years. Attempts to guilt trip my own mother have been rather unsuccessful.

And so I thank you, Tim's mom (and dad). That choco-marshmallow rabbit thanks you as well, from my stomach, where it has fulfilled its destiny of tastiness.

To paraphrase a cinematic classic, Nancy Ryan is a saint.

And on to the other random snapshots of our RT Tuesday!

Binh hearts our signed Ali Larter/Resident Evil 3 glossy (which reads: "Rotten Tomatoes, You are the sexiest website!" We know, Ali. We know.)

A pile of etcetera at Jen's desk, including the super funny postcard for Sundance teen sex horror flick "Teeth."

Mr. T approaches the unsuspecting Senh...

But Senh counters! He also pities the fool.

The Great Easter Basket of Plenty: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, Pez, Cadbury Creme Eggs, jelly beans, and Milk Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Bunny Rabbits!

Let It Slide [ New Features ]
by RT-Actaphu

Tired of clicking that next button on the photo galleries? Well now you don't have to. You can now view all your favorite photo galleries as a slideshow. So just sit back, and enjoy the show.

The photo gallery pages now have a "View as Slideshow" button. It's a green button with arrows and a camera. There's also a text link next to it. Once you click the button, that's it... the slideshow will automatically start. There are three speeds on the slideshow: 3, 5, and 7 seconds. By default, the speed is 3 seconds. There's also a pause button if you wish to stop the slideshow action along with previous and next buttons if you want to skip or go back.

The slideshow button is located at the top of the galleries after the Next button.

Booyaa, instant slideshow.

New Photo Galleries [ New Features ]
by RT-Actaphu

Surprise, surprise. Somebody else other than Jen is posting.

We redid the layouts for the photo galleries. They are no longer popups and now you can skip around on which image to be displayed instead of being limited to just the previous/next one. Both the Hi-Res and Lo-Res version of the image are still available and there is a link if you want to e-mail your buddy a pic of something cool like Mighty Mouse.

Also, there are more gallery sets that you can check out below the image. The first set is the Featured Galleries which are images of popular movies we think you might enjoy and the second set is the Latest Galleries which are the most recently updated movie photos.

Here's a screenshot of the new gallery:

Be sure to check out our latest galleries!

Today in the RT Office: It's Swag Tuesday [ The Office ]
by Jen Yamato

MOOD: Saucy

As part of an ongoing yet completely irregular RT Company Blog series, we'll bring you a snapshot of the latest movie promotional material to arrive in the office, as well as pics of your dedicated RT staff with various found-in-cubicle props. And maybe a weather report or two, a la David Lynch!

This week's most fascinating/useful piece of studio-issued swag: The "Disturbia" Home Confinement Kit!

Inside the kit you'll find an array of essentials for the hungry teenage Peeping Tom, including a can of Red Bull, a single wrapped Twinkie, a flashing red light wriststrap thingy, and a sweet pair of mini-binoculars -- not strong enough to magnify stadium action from the nosebleeds, but just powerful enough to spy on your suspicious neighbors.

Thanks, DreamWorks!!

[And if anyone out there is interested, the Twinkie's up for grabs.]

And now, for a pictorial "Hello" from the editorial team at Rotten Tomatoes!!

Tim "Hot Sauce" Ryan, and Binh "No-No" Ngo

Mr. T says hi too!

Young Alex Vo, So So Def Geoff Pay

Me and Dakota, cold chillin'

And now, the weather:

It's a balmy post-rain day in beautiful Emeryville (Bay Area represent!) with partial clouds; current temperature rests at 57 degrees Fahrenheit, with sunny weather expected tomorrow.

Until next time!!
