My daughter, a 25 year old, Engineering honor graduate has a peculiar disability. She gets lost...a lot.
Even in her hometown. She has no sense of direction. This was always a problem, and has become a
career problem, as she is being dispatched as an Account Executive to visit important key clients and
has to make remote presentations. She always had to leave 30 minutes early, and still was often late to
meetings.
I got her a Garmin Nuvi 350 for her birthday and it has changed her life. Usable right out of the box,
and requiring no manual, I took it on a trip to Mardi Gras. It absolutely correctly routed us, including
expressway lane-change directions for merges and exits, and the data base contained directions to our
motels, houses of friends, and even map-chosen parade viewing site.
My daughter's car needed work and I referred her to Campbell Tire Company in Alpharetta, Ga. She
entered "Campbell Tire Company... (More)

I almost gave up on gps's because of difficulty to use and weeks of studying the manuals. When I was shown the Garmin StreetPilot c330 I said that was it, I wanted one. I went to three stores because the first one I went to was sold out. At all three stores the sales clerks said the StreetPilot c330 was their favorite of all their gps's including the Magellan Roadmate 700, the Roadmate 500 and the Tom Tom Go and, of course, the Garmin 2620. The clerks said it was the easiest to use and really accurate. I have been using it for three days now and it was 100% accurate everywhere I drove. The best part is that you don't have to download maps anymore. It contains the whole United States, Canada and Puerto Rico right out of the box. It has a beautifully colored screen in 3D. It tells me every street I am passing in easy-to-read letters. The voice directions are really clear and has a volume control. The c330 has everything I need to take me anywhere with assurance that I will get there... (More)

I was deciding on the Cobra or Nuvi. Then it was the Nuvi 660 or 670. If you're going to Europe, get the 670. But if you are only in the states, you might be better off getting the 680 like I did. Both the 660 and 680 are basically the same, but the 680 comes with the most updated mapping and with the MSN Traffic car charger cable. I used it right out of the box and directions were on the money. Although a few reviews show that you can't do segments, after plotting my original course, I was able to add stops leading to my final destination. Being able to check my local gps location for gas/eating places even shopping centers and car washes or for a specific location was excellent. With the Blue Tooth feature, I was able to pair my phone. What I like was that when I wanted to make a call using my 680, it showed all my phone entries from my phone. Whether you get the 660 and pay an extra 200 for the MSN cable or get the 680 with includes one year service of MSN Direct, you will not... (More)

I really like using the TomTom ONE - my company has given me to use for a few months now and I love having it in my car. It is incredibly easy to use and the size is perfect - very thin and but still has a screen that is very easy to read. I recently put new maps on it which were free and I've never had any problems with the maps being incorrect. (More)

I really like this GPS. I am not an "advanced" GPS user, so this unit is simple to use right out of the box. The sound is loud and clear, the screen is easy to see even if it is a bit simplistic, and it has a nice selection of POI's to pick from. Very, very easy to program. Touch-screen buttons are nice and big. Great price too. It does exactly what you would want a basic GPS unit to do and it does it well. Mount is a bit bulky but sturdy. (More)

I was very impressed with this TomTom GO 700 GPS Portable Navigation System from the time I opened the box. The screen measures just over 3-1/2" diagonally. The first charge took only a couple of hours while I studied the Quick Start Guide and Installation Poster in the meantime. After the GPS unit was fully charged I went outside by my driveway and turned the unit on and set it on the car so it stayed in one place. This first time takes a few minutes for the intial GPS location of your position. From then on it will only take a few seconds to locate its position after turning the unit on. After a short wait the GPS unit will locate your position. In my case it was my "Home" location and so I entered the position into the "Home" location. The unit is easy to program the routes as all functions are done by "Touchscreen operation". You are able to program a route and then be able to view and also have the ability to install alternative sections to the route as well as having various options... (More)

Oh My!! My husband and i just LOVE this!! We just went to a major city and we got through with ease. It took our friends an additional 45 minutes to get to the same location. We are always driving from place to place and now we don't need to go find directions before hand. No more arguing about which way is best. I can actually sleep on a trip, instead of navigating. (YEAH) If you are on the road alot (my husband hates to fly) you can not go without the c550. The bluetooth feature is a great bonus. hassle free use. I don't know how we ever lived without it. I just bought the unit yesterday but that doesn't mean it is my first GPS unit. I've had a hand held one for about 7 years for hiking, biking, camping, etc. My 2005 sedan came with an OEM navigation unit and my wife has had her Garmin Street Pilot c320 for a couple of years now so I'm very familiar with the functionalities of a navigation system.
First off the OEM navi system in my car was a part of a $2000 option package and my wife's Garmin was around $450 at the time. I paid $199.99 for this Lowrance iWay 250c on sale at Staples so it is a bargin. I bought a car with navi because we travel a lot and it really comes in handy and my wife is tired of me borrowing hers when I drive my truck so I got the Lowrance for my truck and I was willing to try out a $200 unit as I won't be using it much that much.
So I tried it out today and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this little unit is. The mapping software that came with it is version 1.1. I... (More)

My husband has a Garmin i5 and it is a very nice GPS however the sale price on this unit convinced me to buy it. It was rather easy to use right out of the box, and while I liked the touchscreen, at times the buttons were too small even for my small hands and I had to retype quite a bit. Navigation was great, graphics were fun and interesting (more so than the Garmin) however I discovered the one major flaw to this unit; the voice commands are impossible to hear, even at the loudest volume setting, with the windows open on the car or even the high-blower motor on. A low, male voice instead of the female voice of the Garmin, if I was able to make the volume louder this unit would have been a keeper.
I demostrated the voice at the service center of the store; it was hard to hear over the simple background noise of the store. I hope they improve the voice feature- if they do, it will be a really nice unit and I would consider buying it again with the improvement.

Still have many features to learn. Had Magellan and returned it due to extreme disatisfaction. Would often lose satelite signal and stop navigating. $50 option for external antenna. I haven't needed the external antenna yet with the iWay 500c, but when I mount on the shift console like Hertz Neverlost, perhaps I will. No worries, as it came with an external antenna in the package. Great detail and configuratbility on navigaiton aids. I have yet to miss a turn, but sometimes did with Neverlost, or personal Magellan. I also like the folder organization of the MP3 songs including shuffle play if desired. Best of all, detailed maps of all everywhere I've been so far, including very rural areas. (More)
