    Majorca: Island in Mediterranean sun

Sun and yet more sun - about 300 days of sun a year - is the main selling point for property on the Spanish island of Majorca. And sales records show that sun definitely is selling. One real estate agency's report said property values had increased by 214 percent between 1999 and 2005.
A retreat on the road to Hana

Toward the end of Maui's famed road to Hana stands Hale Ohia, a 5,000-square-foot home on almost 103 acres. It is for sale at $5.25 million, which may seem like a bargain, considering that the average sale price of homes on the island is more than $1 million.

Golf growth moves beyond America and Britain

The continuing growth of luxury residential and resort development around the world is fueling a high-stakes competition in the traditionally staid community of golf course designers.
Out of the weeds, a Spanish dream home

Barcelona is particularly well-endowed with architects - some call it the Gaudí effect - so the hills and groves of Catalonia are dotted with outstanding dream homes, some of which they created for themselves.
    Fractional ownership comes to yachting

Owning an eighth of a yacht is better than none. Or so reasons Han Verstraete, chief executive of YachtPlus. Verstraete said eight shares would be sold for $2 million each in each one of the company's 40-meter, or 132-foot, yachts, covering five weeks of use per year. Charters will be offered during any unused weeks, with the owners receiving the revenue.
Turning historic homes into hot property

Around the world, from Panama to Shanghai, high-end buyers are paying top dollar for historic houses, spurring owners to spend both time and money on sensitive renovations that include modern improvements. But finding properties worthy of such effort can be a challenge.
Buying abroad: Mexico becomes a bit easier

While it still can be an adventure, experts say that the process of buying property in Mexico has changed dramatically in recent years. Title insurance and the wide availability of mortgages have added a new level of security to transactions and encouraged an increase in the number of foreign buyers.
