Introduced by Meg Hillier (Lab/Co-op, Hackney South and Shoreditch), the Bill makes provision for the qualification of dance teachers.
She argued that the rise in popularity of dance amongst young people was not being matched by an increase in the number of qualified dance teachers, and that this Bill would make it a requirement for dance teachers to obtain a recognised teaching qualification.
“There is no national standard of qualification for dance teachers. Achieving a single qualification would be difficult, but a minimum required standard for teachers is essential,” she commented.
