Council publications

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, all councils must maintain a publication scheme. Publication schemes detail what information is available, the format it is published in and if there is a charge for receiving that information.

The latest publication scheme for Leeds City Council is attached to this page. To find out more about the Freedom of Information Act and publication schemes, visit the Information Commissioner's Office online.

Many of our council publications are available online from this section of the website. These are categorised by subject in the menu on the left. It is our policy that all written communications from Leeds City Council (that are in English) are produced in plain English.

Key council publications

Council Plan
Leeds City Council has an annual performance plan called the 'Council Plan' which shows a concise overview of what we have achieved, what we are trying to achieve and what we are going to tackle next. The Council Plan sets out a number of key priorities for improving the services we deliver.

Corporate Plan
We also publish a Corporate Plan every three years. The plan outlines Leeds City Council's priorities for these three years and identifies how we will contribute to the Vision for Leeds 2004 to 2020.

Council reports, minutes and agendas
Decisions about local issues and how the council delivers services are made by local councillors, or senior officers under councillors' guidance. These decisions are detailed in the minutes, agendas and reports for the meetings of each committee and board of the council.

About Leeds newspaper
'About Leeds' is the name of the city's civic newspaper, produced by the council four times a year and distributed to every household in Leeds. The paper covers local, predominantly council related news, which focuses on council services, updates and other useful information for residents.

Council press releases
Every year, the council produces approximately 1400 press releases and media statements. An archive of all our press releases since July 2004 is available from this website.
