Karen Duve was born in 1961 and lives in Hamburg. She has been awarded numerous awards for her short stories. Her first novel Rain, published in November 2002, is the tale of Leon Ulbricht, a man who lands a contract to write a gangster's memoirs and sets off for an idyllic existence in an isolated East German village, only to find his dream home damp and his marriage falling apart, and the gangster becoming nastily impatient. |
