The two beautifully rebuilt carriage Classic trains each carry a maximum of 72 passengers who are accommodated in the most spacious train suites in the world. With fine wood panelling, period Edwardian features as well as every modern convenience and comfort, the air-conditioned suites house two people and offer the option of twin or double beds. The four Royal Suites ( 16mē ) each have their own private lounge area and feature a full en-suite bathroom with shower and Victorian bath.
The Deluxe Suites ( 11mē ) each have a lounge area and en-suite bathroom with shower. The use of traditional furnishings ensures an atmosphere of elegance in the Dining, Lounge and Observation cars.
A 14-coach 42 bed Edwardian Train is also available at certain times of the year for private charter. The coaches, which were collected from the far corners of the country have been painstakingly rebuilt and while offering the same spaciousness as the classic trains, are the last word in nostalgic travel while being surrounded in comfort and style.....
This three day journey starts in Pretoria at the private station, travelling east and pausing in Witbank, a rich coal mining area famous for hiding the young Winston Churchill during the Anglo-Boer war in December 1899. The Pride of Africa retraces his escape route towards Mozambique, reaching its highest point at Belfast (1,970 m / 6463 ft) before descending the Drakensberg escarpment.
Travelling through the quaint towns of Waterval Boven and Onder one can see in the distance the remnants of the old rack and pinion railway track of the 1890's. Journey on in comfort towards the capital of Mpumalanga Nelspruit and into the Crocodile River Valley. Follow the border of the famous Kruger National Park towards Hazyview and onto Hoedspruit in the heart of South Africa's game-viewing paradise. Travelling north into the Limpopo province and the indigenous forests of Magoebaskloof, near the tea estates, trout fishing, deep gorges, ancient cycads and into the land of the Baobab trees and some of South Africa's vast citrus estates. On arriving at Pietersburg you board one of the classic aircraft for the two-hour flight to journeys end, the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.
This authentic African Adventure
departs Cape Town in July taking you through South Africa with tours of the
Kimberley diamond town, the capital city of Pretoria and the famous Kruger Park.
Traveling onto Victoria Falls in Zambia before arriving at Dar Es Salaam in
Tanzania. The one way 6,100 km (3,812 mile) journey will take 13 days. Once
there, the guests have the option of visiting exotic Zanzibar, Mount Kilimanjaro,
the Ngorongoro Crater and the wildlife paradise of the Serengeti.
The Edwardian Safari will then depart Dar Es Salaam with its south bound guests
to Cape Town, an authentic African Adventure.
For many visitors to South Africa, there is no better way to see the country than on the popular 48-hour weekly journey between Pretoria and Cape Town. Highlights of the north and south bound routes include visits to the historic village of Matjiesfontein, James Logan's 100-year old refreshment stop in the arid Karoo, De Beers HQ city of Kimberley and the Big Hole of diamond excavations.
The 550 km (344 mile) rail journey between Cape Town and George and onto Knysna in the heart of the famous Garden Route. From the Mother City the Pride of Africa travels through the Hex River Mountains before passing alongside vineyards, rolling wheat-fields and the racehorse stud farms in the Robertson Valley. There is a stop to sample the famous wines of the district. Travelling onto George guests have the option of boarding the train museums Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for the spectacular 67 km (42 mile) journey along the coast through South Africa's own Lake District to Knysna. This nature lovers paradise is a Mecca for visitors drawn to the town for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife and numerous sporting and recreational activities.

Your special journey
commences from Cape Town Station on Monday morning, and lunch is served as "The
Pride of Africa" winds its way through the scenic wine land farms of Worcester
and Robertson. On Tuesday you may play in George on Fancourt Links,
while on Wednesday, Knysna's Sparrebosh course has been reserved. After a visit
to an Ostrich farm on Thursday morning, our train departs Oudtshoorn en route
to Port Elizabeth. Friday is spent on the Humewood Course or visiting a nearby
game reserve. On Saturday our guests are invited to relax on our gracious train
as we climb through the Karoo heading for the city of roses Bloemfontein. Sunday
includes 18 holes at the Bloemfontein Golf Club. On Sunday afternoon we invite
you to relax again as the train travels north towards the magnificent resort
of Sun City in the extinct volcano of Pilansberg. A full day is spent at this
world famous facility. A leisurely farewell dinner will follow that evening
